Barn Owl Cottage

Barn Owl Cottage

Barn Owl Cottage is a traditional farm building made from local stone and recently converted to a pleasingly high standard by a local architect. The cottage is centrally heated and becomes quite a warm and cosy retreat in winter. It sits in a quiet farmyard surrounded by open countryside with views over fields and woodlands. The cottage has a charming "upside-down" set-up with the living accommodation on the first floor to make the most of the alluring rural views. It's here that guests will find a welcome tray on arrival, usually including a scrumptious fresh-baked fruitcake or sponge to accompany mugs of coffee or tea.

Barn Owl Cottage welcomes guests throughout the year.

Living Area

Living area

Enter the main living area with its polished timber flooring, vaulted ceiling and original oak beams into the lounge space with big comfy sofas, one of which converts to a double bed, a TV with DVD-player, and a coffee table. A set of patio doors opens on to a small balcony - bringing you close to those rural views, with wide steps down to the garden.

Self Catering Kitchen

The kitchen embraces a pine dining table, with seating and place settings for 6 guests and matching pine dresser - a home for nostalgic board games, jigsaws and a music system.

The kitchen units were hand-made by a local craftsman and incorporate a wide range of appliances designed to make your stay even more relaxing. They include an electric 4-ring hob, an oven large enough for a Christmas turkey, good-sized fridge freezer, washer/drier and an all-important dishwasher. Smaller appliances include a microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and a full range of utensils (including childrens' place settings). Should you need them, a vacuum cleaner, clothes airer, iron and board are also to hand.

There is also a separate toilet and basin on the first floor to save guests a journey downstairs to the en suite bathrooms - handy also for those using the sofa bed.

At the foot of the wooden staircase on the ground floor is a small entrance porch where wellies can be stored with doors leading off to two bedrooms.
